Mexico Orphanage: Ciudad de Angeles

First off, thank you for taking the time to read this.

I will be taking part on my fourth trip to Ciudad De Angeles (City of Angels) which is an orphanage in Mexico. These are kids who have no family who could take them and had no one to adopt them. They do a great job of taking the entire group of siblings to make sure and keep the family together. The trips are alwayas an incredible experience. These kids are so bright and it's so hard to believe they were left with no one.

I personally began sponsoring one of the children (Norma) two years ago. She recently turned 18, enrolled in college, is an amazing artist and she loves to run. Sponsorships are divided between 4 families to help provide financially for the kids and to allow them to have a more personal family network like an aunt or uncle. We also get them Christmas gifts and can visit them as often as we are able.

While we are at the orphanage we help build and maintain their homes and facilities, help teach them English as a second language, and also have devotional time with bible studies. There are about 40 children currently in the home. They range from preschool to college freshman. They recently developed a transition house (picture a dorm) were the kids who have turned 18 can continue with the program if they are actively attending a college or trade school.

Ciudad De Angeles is run by a great group of Christians from America, some of whom permanently live on the premises. I am going with the group from EastSide Church of Christ in Colorado Springs.

Last year I had so much support and was able to be fully funded. This year look to you all again for some help. The tiniest donations collectively can make a huge difference. I am currently an Air Force officer and some might be concerned what would happen to the money if I was tasked with something and not allowed to go on the trip. If this happens I will give every cent to the trip members or the orphanage so that in someway I pass on your giving to the children.
