Linux Based Audio Recording

Currently, I'm writing a series of instructional articles on how to build an economical but functional recording studio with Linux and Open Source Software. However, I need to obtain the funds to buy the hardware, namely a vocal mic, audio interface, midi controller, monitor speakers, cables and other accessories. Your contribution will allow me to research the feasibility of music production under Linux and to document my findings so others may benefit from this knowledge. Let's lower the cost of entry for beginning musicians so they may record their work and see their dreams come to fruition.
