The recovery of Maria Bonita’s patriarch - Miguel Lopez
Our parents opened their dream restaurant, Maria Bonita, in 2009 where it rose to much success in its first year. Unfortunatley, a couple years later our father was diagnosed with a cancer tumor leading the family in despair to push the business forward not only emotionally, but financially. With the support of the community we were able to continue running the business, we acquired our food trucks and grew it to where it is today.
Almost three years ago we were able to open our second brick and mortar location, but unfortunately, our dad Miguel had to leave to Mexico- leaving the rest of the family to hold up the business :(
To make things worst- we were struck with the news that he has been diagnosed with another cancerous tumor, only this time it is much more severe. The tumor is too large to remove with surgery. Our father is currently undergoing chemotherapy to reduce the size in hopes that they will be able to eliminate it once and for all. As many of you know, these treatments come at a high cost and we're unable to cover this expense while also sustaining our family business. We recognize this will be the beginning of another long process, but we’re hoping that our friends will come forward and contribute to this cause.
Muchas gracias!
