Milo Service Dog Training Fundraiser
At 24 years old Brindi Jackson has suffered for years with PTSD, severe depression and a major anxiety disorder. Most recently she has been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. It has created many issues in navigating life, including leaving her home with a feeling of safety. For that reason, her therapist recommended that she get a Service Dog.
At the age of 3 yrs old Brindi experienced major trauma by her biological father. This trauma has created such extreme anxiety. While she is in therapy, it isn't enough to allow her the feeling of safety to work, go grocery shopping and be around strangers.
Milo is the answer to these issues that keep her trapped at home. Milo is a golden retriever and will be trained to:
Assist with compression application. This is a technique that applies pressure to his charge in order to bring down anxiety levels.
Alert others when Brindi is performing “self harming” behaviors.
Enforces boundaries when in a public place. Milo will create a safe space around her when she is around others and needs distance.
Remind Brindi to take her medication.
Sense body language and emotions then comforts Brindi until she calms down.
Service dogs are a much needed component in this world of trauma. The training however is very expensive. Manners classes are $125/ 4 wk session and private service training sessions are $200 /4 wk. Milo is in the beginning service training currently but needs to continue Service Dog training for the next 2 years. He will be a lifelong companion and protector for her.
Any donation you can offer is greatly appreciated. As a single mother, that is unable to work, the training is expensive. The goal is to get Milo trained so that Brindi can return to work and resume a normal life with him by her side.
