Miranda's On A Mission

Hello friends and family!
My name is Miranda Shearer.
I have always wanted to do some sort of good in the world, and humanitarian work especially called out to me. Even as a kid, when I sat in church, I would get so excited listening to the stories brought back by the people who voluntarily gave up so much of their time and resources to serve people they didn’t even know. My fascination with humanitarian work grew as I did, and as a middle schooler and high schooler, I watched YouTube videos, read books, and saw movies about people who simply served with their whole hearts unselfishly. As in awe as I was, I never thought I could do the same.
But God is pretty dang cool sometimes.
I am writing to tell you about a really amazing opportunity I have this September; I will be delaying college for a short time to take part in a 6-month long mission trip with an organization called Youth With A Mission (YWAM). ). I discovered this organization in my early teens, and the excitement of getting to be involved with this group has not left my head or heart since then.
I will go into training with roughly 70 other people my age, before being split into teams of about 10 and sent out to the parts of Southeast Asia that have reached out to YWAM to request aid. Our service could take the form of orphanage work, teaching, generally serving the community, and many other things. We will have the opportunity to follow Jesus’ example by providing service to those in need in Nepal, Bangladesh, China, or Indonesia/Thailand. Our training will include studying the culture and language of the country we will be serving so that we can provide the most specialized kind of help possible. Throughout training and the outreach in general, I will be cultivating a deeper, personal relationship with God.
My fees for this adventure will range from $8,000 to $10,000, depending on where I am sent. That money will cover my plane tickets, training, food, and living expenses for all six months of the trip. My funding will be coming from three different places:
Me & My Family! I have been working at Hawkins dance studio to earn money in preparation for this mission, and together with the help of my family, am able to pay for a substantial portion of it.
My Church. Lakehills Church, is aiding me greatly with various fundraisers. A donation sent for this outreach by mail to the church is tax deductible (7000 Rossmore Lane, El Dorado Hills, CA ,95762)
This GoFundMe Campaign. I’m hoping to raise $4,000 through this GoFundMe campaign. Any help you can give me — a donation, a prayer, well wishes — would be a huge blessing!
I will have a blog during training and while overseas, and will send out the link to it as soon as it is up and running so that I can keep you all updated!
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this! Have a beautiful day!
Love,
Miranda
