Miss New Mexico United States

I am Marisa Reza, your 2017 Miss New Mexico United States! I am currently vying for the title as Miss United States which will take place in July in Orlando, Florida. I have been working so hard to make New Mexico proud and I am needing your help to help me reach my goal so that I may compete to the best of my ability and bring the crown back to New Mexico! I have teamed up with a local organization, Stop Bullying; Speak Up here in Hobbs, NM where I have been working hard fighting against bullying, teaching students and young kids to love themselves as they come and to always be accepting of who they are. I was a bully victim myself in high school and I went through such a hard time my Sophomore year that I would come home crying almost everyday and I would tell my parents that I did not want to finish high school. I first handedly know the struggle students go through on a daily basis, especially in today's society where social media plays a huge role in the young lives today. Ever since I was able to overcome my sophomore year in high school, I felt within me that I had a calling to my life, and I believe that this is my calling; to help students, small and big, young and old, to love themselves as they are, accept themselves as they come, that Bullying is not okay, and most importantly; reduce suicide rates!

With your contributions, both big and small and everything in between, I can put my voice out there nationally! Whether I come home as Miss United States or not (even though it is something I've been working so hard for) my main focus is to spread my word, spread my message around the nation, and if that comes with a title, it would be the cherry on top! Anything and everything is definitely appreciated from the bottom of my heart. With the help of the community and the state, and all of my family and friends, I KNOW that we can meet this goal! Trust me when I say that I will not quit until bullying and suicide have been stopped! I promise to make you proud New Mexico!
