PVHS NJROTC Cadets Go To Nationals

Donation protected
Cadets from Paloma Valley’s NJROTC are in need of some community support. On February 4, 2017 the Wildcat Battalion competed in the state drill, fitness, and academic meet. Finishing 3rd place, PVHS earned an invitation to compete at the national level in Pensacola, Florida. A trip across the nation is pretty costly, so the Wildcats are hoping to get some backing from their community.  These motivated cadets have served over 3,000 cumulative hours of community service and are now asking for their community to help.

Our goal is to send 50 cadets to Nationals on April 7 & 8, 2017 at a cost of approximately $900/per cadet, which covers airfare, lodging and food. Please consider donating and helping our up and coming leaders gain an experience that will last a lifetime.

Paloma Valley High School’s Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps program has been in existence since 2002. The NJROTC curriculum emphasizes citizenship and leadership development. Classroom instruction is augmented throughout the year by community service activities, drill competition, field meets, marksmanship and other military training, and visits to naval activities.

What does the NJROTC program at Paloma Valley do? Retired U.S. Marine Master Sergeant is fond of saying, “We’re in the business of making leaders!” Some of the specific things that NJROTC does are:

Promotes Patriotism
Develops informed and responsible citizens
Develops respect for constructed authority
Develops leadership potential
Promotes high school completion
Promotes higher education
Promotes community service
Develops a high degree of personal honor, self-reliance, individual discipline and leadership
Promotes an understanding of the basic elements and need for national security
Provides information on the military services as a possible career
Provides an alternative to gangs
Provides incentive to live healthy and drug free

Participation in NJROTC offers both a rewarding learning environment as well as safe, drug-free after-school activities in which our student-cadets develop self-confidence, discipline, respect for authority, citizenship, leadership skills, physical and mental fitness, lasting friendships and the sense of pride in belonging to something special. We feel the experiences gained through participation in NJROTC will assist our cadets in succeeding in future endeavors and successfully overcoming various life challenges.
