A car for Antonio!

Most of you have heard the tragic story of Makiyah's family but for those of you who have not here is a recap. I have been a mentor to Makiyah for the past five years. Makiyah is a ten year old precious girl that comes from a low income family from the inner city of Atlanta. I have seen her family go through many struggles over the years but the struggle her family is experiencing now is heartbreaking! On September 16th the family experienced a horrific house fire. Makiyah’s Mom, sister (age 12) and two brothers (ages 7 and 8) sustained serious injuries from the fire. Makiyah was the first child pulled from the fire and was the only child that didn’t sustain injuries….a true miracle! The brothers sustained burns to their bodies and all family members except Makiyah suffered from extensive smoke inhalation damage. They have all taken huge strides in their recovery but the one who is struggling the most is seven year old Antonio. Due to the severe smoke inhalation Antonio now suffers from brain damage and as a result his vision is impaired, he is in a wheelchair due to not being able to walk and he has limited speech. He is fully aware of what is going on and will be going through extensive rehabilitation for many months to come. You all so generously gave a few months ago and we were able to provide furnishings and clothes to the family.  It was truly amazing!!!

This is where you come in to help again. Makiyah's family desperately needs a car! There are many rehabilitation visits and doctor visits in Antonio’s future so his Mom needs a reliable car! Through some wonderful friends at Cox they were able to find a reliable car at a really great price!  I need help from all of Santa's elves to make this wish come true!
