My Berklee College of Music Dream
Hello everyone,
Thank you for joining me on this wonderful adventure! Let me introduce myself.
My name is Vasya Popova and I've been singing since I can remember.
After taking piano and dance lessons as a child, I attended Sofia University to study languages and theater, afterwhich I graduated the National Academy of Music with a Bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance.
After being awarded a scholarship to the prestigious Berklee College of Music, my path has led me here and I'm proud to have successfully completed two semesters at this wonderful school. While at the school, I had the pleasure of singing with many incredible groups, like the Overjoyed Ensemble and the Pletenitsa Balkan Choir (where I got to explore my Bulgarian roots and share them with our audiences). I also had the honor of participating in many prestigious projects, including the Berklee Annual Middle Eastern Festival (which this year featured the incredible Tigran Hamasyan).
However, despite the sponsorship, support and friendship of many, and a good scholarship, resources have unfortuntately run out again and the time has come for me to reach out once again.
I will be needing $15000 to complete the next two semesters, at which point I am eligible to apply for an increase in scholarship.
I have fought hard to make it this far, and have beat many odds. I know I won't give up no matter what, but your support would mean the world to me. I know music is my only truth and it would be a joy and privilege to have you be part of this journey.
Thank you for believing in me. I won't disappoint you.
Sincerely,
Vasya Popova
