My Internship in San Francisco, CA
Donation protected
My name is Tyler Riley, and I am a senior Journalism student at the University of Missouri. I anticipate to graduate from the university in December of 2018. I have recently been accepted to complete an Account Management Internship at Venables, Bell + Partners in San Francisco, CA for the duration of the summer.
This opportunity is huge to me, as I would not have even applied to such an opportunity a little over a year ago. In preparation for college, most programs and mentors gave me invaluable advice on how to maintain my academics and on how to study properly. No one ever prepared me for any real life struggles I could potentially face while in college. Well, I got ambushed with real life struggles, unfortunately. I must reinforce that I have been very blessed in my college career in regards to scholarships and academic mentors, however, life began to affect me in ways I never imagined it could.
Coming from a single-parent family, I was required to be rather indepedent early on. In doing so, I tended to put the concerns and needs of others before my own regularly. I never wanted to ask anyone outside of my family for much because I was simply always supposed to have things taken care of. My mother has two kids, and she works three jobs to maintain a comfortable living environment for us. Although she is incredibly supportive of me and of my dreams, I would like to try to relieve her of the burden of financially supporting me through this particular oppotunity.
These funds will assist me with housing, travel to, from and within San Francisco, food for the duration of the summer, and an emergency fund. I am from the Midwest. I have never visited California, let alone the West Coast, so I am nervous about navigating the cost of living there. I am hoping to raise these funds by the beginning of May 2018, as the internship begins in June. These funds will assist me in comfortably settling into the city and will allow me to go into my work with less concerns.
I am endlessly grateful for the opportunity of a lifetime. I am furthermore grateful for those who took the time to mold me into the woman I am today; for that influence, I have been able to build confidence and to go for grand opportunities such as this one. I also am grateful for spiritual influence; I now understand what it means to experience rejection, to allow God to work in my life, and to accept all that He has for me when the timing is right. Lastly, I am grateful for any and all donations and shares in regards to this campaign. It means the world to me to be believed in. Thank you!
