My Mother Lost Her Home Today..

Donation protected
Today, with the high winds and fallen trees.. my mother and my niece lost their home. The only home my niece and my nephew has ever known. The home my mother worked so hard to call her own.

My mother is one of the strongest women I have ever known. She’s supported my sisters and myself and even after we were grown she took on the responsibility of raising my nieces and nephew when her time for raising children should have been over. She’s worked so hard over the years and she finally had a place to call her own. She was so proud of her little house. Last week she modernized the main wall in her living room. The months before, she remodeled the kitchen, bought new furniture for the living room, decorated the kids rooms so that they had their own space and toys. The year before she replaced all the carpet. She painted the walls. The summer before she planted flowers, a rose tree and even spent her entire weekend building a walkway with stones to lead up to the front door.. she put her all into her little house and she was content. She didn’t ask for much. She was happy to have a place for her and the kids to call home.

But today, she lost it all.

I’m 32 years old and for as long as I can remember.. my Mother and Bestfriend.. has always worked hard and went out of her way to help those in need. To provide for my sisters and I. To make sure the family stayed together when it seemed that there were no other options. I’ve watched my mother take in people that needed a place to sleep. A warm meal. Hot showers and clean clothes. She’s always had an open door policy for those in need. She’s one of the few women left that wears her heart on her sleeve.
Today my mother woke up and went to work at a full time job she’s had for many years... just to come home and find that home she worked so hard for is no longer safe to live in.

While at work, the high winds cause a huge tree to fall onto her home. The fire department deemed it unsafe. She has 24 hours to remove all personal belongings before the county takes everything she worked so hard for and levels it to the ground.

She has no savings. A grandchild to care for. And grandchildren that love to visit on a regular that can no longer do so.

My mother is not one to ask for Charity. She’s not one to loathe in self pity. She stands up and fights and puts her mind to starting all over. However, because of her health and current situation. I am asking for anyone who can.. to help pick her up this time.

For once, she needs to allow those who are willing, to lend a hand to her in her time of need. She’s helped so many and I hope that all those she never turned away from will remember the hand she extended to them in their time of need. Anything at all helps. And we thank you all in advance.
