Help Me Save My Dad from Being Homeless
Hi my name is Sebastian;
I’m doing this because, I don’t know what else to do for my dad, and his pride won’t let him ask you.
Let me tell you a little about Scott Matusik, My Dad, and why I’m here asking for your help and support.
My Dad is an artist more than anything, but he has never been able to be an artist!

My Dad, told me that when he was young the adults would explained him as being artsy (gay), so “people would understand he's just different”
He’s not gay, but has always been treated as though he was, when he was my age he was attacked and gay bashed so severely, he lost most of the vision in his left eye, but he taught himself how to keep cutting hair even half blind. He could have easily been labeled disabled then and never worked a day in his life,

but My Dad's Not a quitter and worked 35 years instead.

BUT !
He IS DIFFERENT!
he is an artist like we rarely see, anymore.  He has to create something every day,

I watch him start to create a new work and I can see he doesn’t even know he has started a new project; he doesn’t create because he wants to.

My Dad creates because he can’t stop himself, he really can’t control it,

He just sees the world prettier, than we do, and he spends his time, making things,
to try and show us, how he sees. I think, If we could all see the Childs view My Dad has,
we might have a happier life ourselves. During his 35 years of hairdressing My Dad’s
lower spine rotted away from leaning over shampoo bowls washing women’s hair
so he could create beauty for them.
He Loves Hair It Was his Life!
But 8 years ago he was told ~~~ he had to stop FOREVER.

After something like 20 years of no health insurance, when he finally got to see a doctor through his new wife’s insurance,

the MRI on his spine were so bad
from Arthritis and Sports injuries,  he was told his spine
and joints were worn down so much, they look like a 70 years old man’s bones.
My Dad, is young he’s only 53.

They told him, he needs his knees, and hips replaced, and his hands will just keep getting weaker and weaker as the nerve damage worsen over time.

I’ve never seen My Dad, so Sad for so long…
The cost of physical therapy was outrageous and way too expensive for him to go.
I heard them talking one night and said it would cost $40 a visit, 4 times a week.
We couldn’t afford it, so he Just Quit

My Dad, Never Quits but, I was watching him, be forced to be a quitter.
His spine and Neck, are so Bad now, he’s not allowed to lift, more than 10lbs.
My Dad used to be an Athlete, and was always exercising, when he wasn’t creating something,
when I was growing up and now he needed to find a way
to survive his painful spine issues and with no therapy available.

It was time for him to create a life that he could live. My Dad was so lost he started
going to the beach at sunset just to not be here, laying around on heating pads hurting.
I think he went there to cry, but he never admitted, he did, but he always came home
with a stuffy red nose, and puffy red eyes. After months of begging his wife, Kelly for a Bodyboard for an exercise for his back, she finally let My Dad, have a bodyboard.

My Dad, started taking that board out in the water that day, he was so weak, he could only hold onto the board for a few minutes at a time, before he would fall into the water and have to climb back onto the wobbly bodyboard. It was like a miracle from God, My Dad was excited again and smiling

He started going out on that bodyboard every day and it was making him stronger and healthier.  It took him months and months before he could even let go of the board with one hand because his core muscles had gotten so weak from not being able to do any therapy for himself. But this was working and My Dad’s doctor liked it too. My Dad was getting so proud of himself he started taking photos of the sunsets, he was seeing during his therapy.

Over the next 3 years My Dad, got very good at taking photos of his spot on the beach. It is now time to take the next set and start printing these photos on to big canvases and sell them at shopping mall art shows here until he can get a trailer, so he can tow it  to farther out destinations.
My Dad wants to make oil painting, of His sunset photos, and he already has the paint, brushes and canvases.

My Dad and Kelly have divorced and we are going to be homeless in 90 days if we can’t find a way to afford a home for Him(us).

I just need a little boost to help My Dad have his dreams!! And not have to live off the government.

I want My Dad to have a safe mobile home, he can make his home and be able to start selling his photos at art festivals, he is going to need:
a tent(to use to show his photo’s at art fairs)
a table or 2(to sell his prints on)
a trailer maybe a pop –up camper(to sleep in while at art shows too far from home)
a mobile home( for a place to call home)
a gopro hero3( to take sunsets photos from the water)
support for buying prints to sell (to sell at art shows)
He doesn’t want to be on disability, he wants to support himself with his art
And Be the Artist he was born to be, any help at all will be a blessing.

Thank you for listening,
Sebastian
