Help Matt Zanellato dance in THON
Donation protected
The Penn State Dance Marathon (THON) is the largest student-run philanthropy in the world. THON is a yearlong effort to raise funds and awareness for the fight against pediatric cancer. Since 1977, THON has raised more than $127 million for the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State’s Hershey Children’s Hospital. In 2015, THON raised $13,844,684 for the Four Diamonds Fund.
Throughout the past four years, I have had the opportunity and privilege to increase my involvement in THON. My experiences with THON, including speaking at Huddle Up FTK and being on stage with Coach Franklin during the final four hours of THON 2015, have been some of the most rewarding and memorable of my college career. THON, Penn State, and the fight against pediatric cancer mean so much to me, and the chance to represent SAAB and dance for THON would be a dream come true.
The past two years, I have tried to dance and have raised roughly $6,000 combined. This year, I aim to raise $10,000 for the fight against pediatric cancer. All funds raised through my GoFundMe page will be donated directly to SAAB’s personal THON fundraising page. I have chosen to use GoFundMe in order to directly track and organize my fundraising progress.
THON strives to maintain transparency to the public; recognizing the responsibility that THON has to provide all of its donors, volunteers, and supporters with updated information on the effectiveness of their time and donations. THON upholds a 96.09% fundraising efficiency, representing the percentage of private donations remaining after the event management, development, and operations expenses to receive them. In 2015, less than 4 cents were spent per dollar raised, meaning that of the $13,844,684 that was raised, $13,336,675 was donated to the Four Diamonds Fund.
