E. San Jose Fruit Stand Vendor Fund
Donation protected
This page has been set up to gather funds for the Hernandez family in order to help with any family expenses during this difficult time.
Francisco Hernandez Juarez, of San Jose, was a fruit stand vendor at South White Road and Mt. Vista Drive (close to Mount Plesant High School), where he was fatally hit by a suspected drunk driver on Feb. 21, 2015. His wife was also injured, but is expected to survive.
Francisco was a tireless street vendor who tried to make a living for his family of five as a fruit vendor. This husband-and-wife team suffered a huge tragedy when a suspected drunken driver crashed into their cart in broad daylight Saturday afternoon.
Francisco is survived by his wife and three young children. The children were also known to help out with the family business during summer vacation. This hardworking family was trying to make an honest living out of this fruit stand but now face an uncertain future due to this tragedy.
Hernandez and his wife were manning their stand about 1:45 p.m. Saturday when, police say, a northbound car driven by a 25-year-old hit another car head-on, then jumped the curb and hit the vendors. The driver then drove on, turning onto Mt. Vista and barreling through multiple fences before crashing for good into a parked car, police say.
The couple was taken to the hospital, where Hernandez passed away Sunday afternoon. Their children were believed to be in Mexico at the time of the crash.
The driver was arrested in the suspected DUI crash that killed Hernandez.
Any donation that you can make is greatly appreciated. Please help spread the word to help aid this San Jose family. Thank you.
