Holy Redeemer Christian Academy/ Young Coggs Williams Preparatory Academy is a K -12 school located in the urban community of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Students involved in this club research, design, and test all of our challenges. Our students are teaming with future engineers at our local universities and young professionals to learn first hand what it takes to become an engineer. We are trying our best to give these children a path to college and a better future and for our community. Our competition has moved from Detroit, Michigan to Houston, Texas… Now we need your help to get there.
Holy Redeemer is in a low income, gateway, and working class community and without the help of gracious sponsors and donors they will not be able to participate. Last year, our STEM Team, was invited to the National CStem Competition in Detroit, Michigan. Our Elementary and Middle Schools won the National CStem Competition and our H.S. won the Midwest Regional Competition.
Through this program, students have hands on experience with the STEM content areas and several students are now in college and many other students are showing interest in attending college to study Engineering (Biotech, Nanotech, Mechanical, etc), Science (Biological, Environmental) and Business. Many of these students would not be familiar with these careers if it weren't for their exposure with the STEM Team.
We believe that S.T.E.M. needs to be incorporated in every child's education. We understand how important Science, Technology, Engineering and Math are to our future leaders of tomorrow. By integrating these subjects, students are inspired to discover solutions to real world problems. This environment foster's a child's natural desire to explore and problem solve through trial and error.
