Build a Navajo Healing House

In our culture "hozho" means balance, harmony and life. To be able to walk in hozho' is to be in a state of balance with our mind, our spirit and creation. We are rebuilding our "old hospital" as the Hozho' Wellness Center to serve our Navajo families. We seek wellness and hozho', a safe space to heal intergenerational trauma which has caused addiction and disharmony.
With advancing technology and a fast-paced world we scramble to stand on our own two feet, fighting alcohol and drug abuse, diabetes, and domestic violence. We find that going back to our roots, our legacy of traditional values of ke' - family is the source of our healing. Our Wellness Center will help us do this.
The "Old Hospital" has served our Navajo people for almost 100 years. Now we want to bring it back to life to serve as a women's wellness center. We will offer support, counseling and classes from parenting and cooking to nutrition and art.
THE FIRE!
As we see our goal in the horizon, we constantly get hit with unavoidable obstacles. Funds raised have gone to unforseen infrastural hazards. In recent times, as cleansing as a fire can be, it has set us back. We see this fire now, not as a set-back but as an oppotunity to reinforce our building and reach more people by telling our story and gain more support.
Now with a few more dollars we will finish the restoration. Your funds will make this possible. We have raised 3/4 of the funds and need just a few more $$$ and we will be ready to open the doors to hozho'.
