N-Control RC On Road Track Build
Donation protected
The Austin Texas area has a great RC community, from the longstanding on road program at Hobbytown USA (where I race!) to the incredible offroad facility that is Thornhill Racing Circuit. What has been missing for many years is a permanent on road track.
On some land in Dale Texas, about 15 minutes south of Circuit of the Americas -- where I will also be building a house this year -- we will close this gap! Several months ago, I committed to building a new N-Control RC Raceway, an on road re-invention of the offroad track I once ran in north Austin. I expect to open the track in May of this year. I can picture nothing better than running an RC race track on my own homestead, mere hundreds of feet from my home!
As I learned more about on road and the wants and needs of the local race community, this project has grown. The racing surface will now be 150 x 60 feet, plus a pit lane. The stand will be built atop a 40' shipping container. Plenty of power -- for great lighting and racer needs -- costs a surprising amount to bring to the facility. Quite simply, I've stretched over my budget.
N-Control RC Racing Circuit will be built, but I am asking for some help to ease the path. Any docations will go entirely to the track and facility build-out: 200 amp service, telephone poles for lights, about 12,000 watts of metal halide lighting, a great driver's stand 34 feet long, video security system, great sound, and 9,000 square feet of asphalt fenced off for spectator safety.
Things are already well under way. The driveway is in, and the pad areas has been based out. A nice conex was put in place last week. I've got many of the lights, much of the sound, a start on the security equipment, and a meeting with the power company. The driver's stand/director's booth build starts this weekend.
Can you donate? I hope so! I would greatly apppreciate whatever you can spare to help make this track a reality!
