Help Dion Community Building
Donation protected
For the past few months I have been training to be a carpenter so I can learn how to build the things that the community wants and needs. Before I can go to work I need to get a reliable vehicle with cargo space for my tools and supplies when traveling to work sites as well as space for the kids, so I am asking for your help to purchase a vehicle.
My ultimate goal is being able to donate time and energy to build for those less fortunate. I am starting out as an apprentice in the Carpenters Union but eventually I will have my own business helping and teaching people how to build. I started this journey in March through the Trade Occupations Opportunity Learning (TOOL) Center at Bates Technical College in Tacoma. From there I was selected to attend the Advanced Carpenters Apprentice program through NW Carpenters Institute. After successfully completing the program, I was accepted into the Carpenters Union.
It has always been instilled in me to do what I can to better myself and my community. Every project I work on, every art piece or t-shirt I design is done with the concept of community at heart and mind. It is my responsibilty to do everything I can to inspire people and be an example of hope and proponent for unity. I have spent the past 5 years immersed in Arts and culture and have seen the positive impact it has had on the spirit of the city and the citizens that occupy it. Tacoma is currently in a vast transition and with that growth and development comes opportunities which has brought me to a new journey as a carpenter.
So if you believe in me and you believe in this community I would love and appreciate your help. I have included some photos below of projects and passions of mine. I appreciate you and thank you for your time.
Getting my Bachelors Degree from Evergreen State College as a first generation college graduate.
Using the skills I have learned in construction to build a Tiny House that we donated to a local daycare.
The day we completed the Tiny House the kids and staff from the daycare presented us with a plaque.
My first shop called the "Gallery of Ambition". Created to spark interest in Arts & culture in the community. Ambition is still the motto.
As an Artist and creative I wear many hats and have many gifts and hobbies. Designing clothing is one of many. I will use that same design mentality in my carpentry.
I created the "Sides of the Town" shirt to enforce unity in the community. I used it as part of a window display Art exhibition for Spaceworks Tacoma.
I have been introduced to the world of public Art via the city of Tacoma . This piece was entitled "For 4 Four".
