Hi Everyone! Our names are Jeroen Klaassen and Reannon Clarke and in 2010 we started City Shine Foundation.
What We Do
Our mission is to improve educational, economic, and health outcomes for the kids in Nairobi, Kenya.
Currently we support two schools in Kayole-Soweto slum, Reannon Clarke Primary School (elementary school) and City Shine Secondary School (high school).
Throughout the year we raise money via private donations, market days, fundraiser events and selling items (bracelets, necklaces, statues, calendars, pictures, etc).
A Few of Our Accomplishments Since 2010
- Both schools are supplied with all text books, school supplies and science equipment
- Desks and chalkboards were made locally for all classrooms
- We bought a piece of land where the secondary school is currently being conducted
- Built toilets on this land
- Built a kitchen and equipped it with a 120 liter cooker
- Became part of a food program that allows all students to receive 3 meals a day
- Purchased uniforms for 80% of the students
- Provided the high school girls with sanitary pads so they don’t have to miss out on school anymore!
- Brought sports equipment for the students

We are currently raising money for a piece of land that has become available right next to our school. This is such an amazing opportunity for the growth and future of City Shine!
It will not just save us a lot of money in rent, but will also provide a safer environment for all the students!
