He Won't Be Stopped--COLLEGE BOUND!

The first thing I would like to say is how overwhelmed and appreciative we are to all those who have shown such support, encouragement and interest in my son. We have struggled and fought this battle alone, most of the time, and it is beyond powerful to see so many others rallying behind us! As a single mom, it gives me validation of all my efforts to fight this battle with my son, knowing others are as appalled and outraged as we have been.
Secondly, our goal here is to provide a platform for my son to make his way to college! Due to the issues he has faced here in Alabama's achool system, we are having to alter our original path to this goal. The issues he faced during his high school attendance here affected him with his athletics and dream of being scouted to a D1 4 year college, so we are making plans to take an alternate route with a 2 year community college. This will give him the opportunities to continue his academic goals by completing the required courses for 4 yr college transfer and re-enter into an athletic program with baseball and get him back in front of 4 yr college scouts! His goal here is to raise money to assist with his tuition costs, course credit costs, athletic program costs, books, and supplies. His first year costs, minus grant funds we have applied for, will still be $9,238.00, so his goal is $9500.00 (to give or take a little for any missed costs). Being able to get enrolled and have his costs paid for will allow him to remain on his path to continue his education towards becoming a Sports Entertainment Attorney and of course, to play baseball, with hopefully a chance at the Major Leagues too!
Next, my son would like to share with those who visit this campaign, his personal back story and allow others to know his determination to continue along his path. My son's name is RJ and he has played baseball since he was 5 and decided that was life! He worked hard to get good grades, be the best he could be on the field and planned to have scouts seek him out and hopefully one day, the Braves! He has played at Pitcher and 1st Base for Little League teams, rec. ball teams, middle school JV & Varsity teams, and high school JV & Varsity teams in the past 13 yrs. He loves the Atlanta Braves and models himself after his favorite player, Freddie Freeman. He is a team player and team motivator, and even when his own teammates were taunting him with bananas and monkey noises, racial slurs and backhanded comments, he never stopped trying to be a team motivator and go to player. He is also, academically solid and goal oriented, seeking to become a Sports Mgmt/Entertainment Attorney. He has spent his life playing baseball and wants to be involved with the sport both on and off the field, therefore choosing a career that will allow him to do so for as long as he chooses! You can also read about his story here at https://www.independentpressjournal.com/2018/02/14/no-nggers-gulf-shores-high-school-gulf-shores-alabama/
Finally, I would just like to thank all of those who have read about or heard of my son's journey and responded with such an outpouring of support with comments, tweets and messages encouraging and uplifitng him! As a mother, I am so truly touched by all of your caring and concern for my son and sincerely appreciate each and every one of you. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts---we are so amazed by y'all!
