Just as the Jacobsmeyer family was about to embark on an exciting adventure moving across the country and celebrating Andrew's graduation from Med School, they've been stopped in their tracks by the C word. Nicole was diagnosed with Stage II Thyroid Cancer this week and needs immediate surgery. The family's new insurance doesn't kick in until mid-June, so all of Nicole's medical expenses will be out of pocket. I've started this Go Fund Me account to lighten the burden of medical bills for the Jacobsmeyer Family, so they can focus on getting Nicole the treatment she needs to beat this cancer.
The Back Story:
For the last few months, Nicole hadn't been feeling herself. She struggled with sudden weight loss, unexplained pain, anxiety and depression, but attributed her symptoms to a side effect of life itself. We all know stress can wreak havoc on the body. After Nicole suffered a devastating miscarriage, she wondered if there was something else wrong. Then one day Wesley discovered a lump on her neck! While Mom and son we were wrestling around, Wesley stopped to ask, "Mama what is that!!!??” Andrew encouraged Nicole to call the doctor and have it checked out. Less than a week after an ultrasound examining the lump, the Jacobsmeyers' life was turned upside down. Nicole has Stage II Thyroid Cancer.
Nicole will need to have a Thyroidectomy as soon as possible. This is a surgery to remove the tumor, her thyroid, and several cancerous lymph nodes. In addition to the surgery, Nicole needs to have a PET scan of her body to check if the cancer has spread elsewhere.
Nicole is a most incredible woman with a strong faith in God, believing He will give her the strength to beat this cancer. She is a stellar Mom to three little boys, a loving wife, and a wonderful writer, evident in one of her recent posts on her blog, "Embracing Chaos." After her miscarriage, she found a light in the darkness, holding tight to her faith and inspiring others to do the same:
"But just know this: we live in a fallen world with a real enemy who wants you to think that this is the end. He wants to steal your joy. He wants you to think that this is where you should give up. But cling to the truth, my friends. Cling to the truth. Jesus is our strength and He makes all things new and beautiful. There is purpose in the pain."
Please help support Nicole and her family during the most difficult time of their lives. Every penny helps. #NicoleCrushesCancer
