Nina Stewart Medical Fund
Hello, we are Scott and Lisa Stewart, Nina Stewart's son and daughter-in -law. On Tuesday March 1, 2016 Nina was rushed to the emergency room with pain in her hip which had become unbearable. She had been suffering with increasing hip pain over the past year. Her doctors assumed it was due to an injury from a fall she'd taken earlier in the year. Sadly, this was a mis-diagnosis. The tests results during the first week of March revealed a diagnosis of Multiple Myeloma, a cancer of the plasma in the bone marrow, which had aggressively dissolved much of her left hip bone socket.
After surgery, radiation treatments and chemotherapy, Nina was finally able to return home in the beginning of April. She is currently confined to a wheel chair and hospital bed and is concentrating all her efforts on managing her pain and focusing on future remission of this cancer as she continues chemo treatments and holds hope for surgical reconstruction of her hip.
We are asking first and foremost for your prayers for pain relief and remission. Many of you reading this know what a beautiful, loving and amazingly talented lady Nina is. Yesterday, as a good friend was helping us close down her art studio, we had to bring home to her a wonderful, but unfinished painting. Looking at her unfinished art work made us profoundly sad to think about her talent stopped short like this. One of our hopes and prayers is to see Nina well enough to paint again. Will you join us?
We are also asking for financial help with new expenses that are arising with Nina's return home. Her financial needs include out of pocket payments for ongoing, weekly in-home help/light nursing care, payments for medical equipment rentals, and some remodeling of her home(especially bathroom shower) for easier disabled access. Also, since transporting to and from appointments is a challenge for Nina due to her pain, it would be a tremendous help for her to be able to purchase a good used vehicle that is spacious and has electric seat adjustment options, allowing her to totally recline or adjust her position while being transported.
Thank you so much for your prayers and for anyway you are able to help.
Sincerely,
Scott and Lisa Stewart
