Noah’s Live Donor Journey

Donation protected
Noah and Michelle Schumacher are walking a unique path that they never imagined would be theirs. Noah, who is the Lead Pastor of HighMill Church in Canton, Ohio will be leading by example through donating a large portion of his liver to a save the life of a child who is on the transplant list now and will die if a donor does not come forward .

This child is not the only one on Noah’s mind as he steps up to be a donor. Noah’s mother was and is still in need of a liver transplant and is currently on the transplant list.  Without hesitation, Noah stepped up to the plate to be a live liver donor for his mother. This surgical operation is very serious in which a living person gives a large portion of their liver to the one in need. Unfortunately, Noah’s liver anatomy did not match well enough to allow him to be her donor. That donation would have taken his own life or placed him on the transplant list as well shortly thereafter.

As he received the heartbreaking news that he was not an approved donor for his own mother, he was also told there were pediatric children who were in need of a liver transplant to which his liver matched perfectly. Again, without hesitation, Noah and his wife Michelle stepped up and offered to save the life of a child this time. A stranger. Someone they do not know.

As people learned of their selfless decision, this Go Fund Me was started to help support this family. There already exists a financial need for he and his family as Pastor Noah is voluntarily taking a pay cut during his 3-6 month recovery to not be a financial burden to the church. Additionally, he has been instructed to prepare and plan for any unforeseen expenses because of this selfless act.
