Event Travel for Noel Starblanket

Donation protected
My short documentary, From Up North, has been selected to screen at the Wairoa Māori Film Festival in Wairoa, New Zealand.  I want to make sure my friend and featured storyteller, Noel Starblanket, who has given so much to the community has an opportunity to attend.  Our documentary is about my experience working for the Truth and Reconciliation Commission recording the stories of Indian Residential School survivors. The story could not have been possible without the help of Noel sharing his experiences attending the Lebret Indian Residential School in very moving segments of the film.

Any funds raised will go towards Noel's travel and expenses to New Zealand and home. The festival takes place in June 2017, so the sooner we raise the funds, the better. We hope the film will help educate on the lasting impacts of the Indian Residential School legacy and having Noel present would be an added benefit to the New Zealand audience. We are grateful for any and all support!
