Thank you again for everyone who donated. No One Dies, Not Today has had a tremendous impact and some limited publicity and due to this we have now coupled with This Too Shall Pass Inc. (Non-Profit) and has partnered with Unified Dimensions Therapy, to not only continue our Narcan distribution but now to provide a channel directly from an overdose into a therapeutic detox, rehab and continued therapeutic treatment. We are now offering pro-bono counseling sessions for the one suffering from addiction and families. We have not achieved our original goal but the help of all who donated MADE IT POSSIBLE for us to continue. We are still having to buy a portion of the Narcan to keep up with demand and to pay for gas for our volunteer brigade. We need around $1,400 to make it through the summer. The growth of the initiative and the need of the community continue to rise. Thank you.
I have been a drug counselor, interventionist, and information advocate in a boot-on -ground advocacy stance for many years. I live in Norman, Oklahoma where the University of Oklahoma is located. Opioids are ubiquitous, we cannot use the ostrich defense anymore or claim willpower is the way to go. That is thinking from the 1950s. This brand of addiction is chronic, fatal and progressive. Probably you know someone who is afflicted...maybe even your own son or daughter. NARCAN® (naloxone HCI) - Nasal Spray saves lives every day but there are many people who don't have access to it who need it. Drug counselors, interventionists, librarians, Residential Advisors at Universities, neighborhood watch groups, private security personnel, plus some longtime Narcotics Anonymous volunteers. Myself along with 3 other Counselors, a former police officer, a Nurse Practitioner, and Emergency Medical Technician will distribute the Narcan, train and hand out the life-saving drug to the people who need it most. Law Enforcement and EMT's are the only ones who have it now. This needs to change. We are going to set up a volunteer program on the major universities in Oklahoma (with a goal to provide services across the US)to train them to save lives and provide the NARCAN® (naloxone HCI) - Nasal Spray to do it. Our goal is 40,000$ to buy the drug en masse (cost effective purchasing is the only way this will work and pay for the trainers time. Upon reaching that goal the life-saving efforts can begin.
