No More Tomorrows for Tumors
I have started this campaign on behalf of Shawn and Emily Feldman, parents of Madilyn.
On August 11th of 2016 this little princess Madilyn, or Maddie Cakers, turned 5 years old. She was supposed to be starting kindergarten on September 1st. Maddie was experiencing bad headaches and vomiting throughout the summer. Her parents took her into their doctor where he decided it would be best to get a MRI done on August 22, 2016 at the American Family Children's Hospital in Madison, Wi.
The results were not what any person would ever wish upon as she was diagnosed with a brain tumor. The tumor is on her brain stem. An emergency surgery was scheduled with in the hour as the tumor was blocking brain fluid and blood flow. The doctors were able to relieve some of the pressure. She was able to go home on August 24th but must return on September 1st. Unfortunately instead of going to her 1st day of school, she will be returning to Children's Hospital for a 3rd MRI of her head and her 1st of her spine. Surgery to remove what they can of the tumor is scheduled for September 2nd.
Her parents are not eligible for the Family Medical Leave at this time as her father just recently started a new position in sales and her mother is just shy of qualifying at this point. They are recent new home owners and with unknown medical cost and taking time off of work to cover what is important in life, and also an 8 year old big sister, Aubrey, to Maddie, the future is scary for them at this point while facing the unknown.
To know this girl and to know this family is to love them...There is no other way to describe them. Any donation or sharing of this page will help out in a way much larger then you can ever imagine. Please donate or share as you see fit. We will continue to update her progress as things proceed! Thank You!
