Now and At the Hour Film

Donation protected
Hi! My name is Wilfred Tangid. I need your help in bringing my award-winning screenplay Now and at the Hour to life in the big screen. As an independent filmmaker, I have been producing feature films and documentaries that have merited awards. With your generosity, I am looking to produce this film for film festival submissions.

It will cost me $40,000 to produce this film. I have already scrimped, saved and spent about $10,000 on pre-production costs such as traveling to the Philippines to check out the shooting locations, auditioning actors, organizing the production crew and upgrading and maintaining film equipment.

The most expensive part of production is building the enclosure to simulate the wreckage that trapped the lead actor in her home at the aftermath of typhoon Haiyan. Production expenses will also include compensation of the production crew, talent fees of the actors, transportation costs, permits and licenses fees, boarding costs, film location rentals, insurances, among others.

I’m thankful for my day job in construction that allows me to finance pre-production work. But, I definitely need your generosity to produce this film.

Additionally, I have to allocate resources for post-production work which is a separate expense. But for now, this journey is focused on getting production work started.

Why you should help bring this award-winning screenplay to life

Ø  I have an urgent message on climate change. It is a global issue that affects you and I. We only have one planet to live and we are destroying it. Super typhoon Haiyan which hit the Philippines on Nov.8, 2013 killed about 7,000 in the Philippines. It destroyed towns and cities, crops and sources of livelihood with damages estimated close to US $1 billion. Typhoon Haiyan is said to be the strongest typhoon on record. It’s one of the devastating outcomes of climate change.

Ø  I believe in the goodness of man. Overall, man remains compassionate no matter how apathetic this world has become. Man’s compassion in a time of devastation is hopeful and inspiring. Even greater and golden is a child’s compassion which this film will show us through Buknoy’s character.

Ø  Most of us are unmoved that this world is rapidly crumbling before our very eyes.  But hope is born every day. Through Gina’s child, born in the rubble left by typhoon Haiyan, this film will open your eyes to the strength, the pain endured and the bravery it takes to ensure that we do not lose hope.

Ø  I have put together awesome rewards in recognition of your sponsorship. I hope to express the depth of my appreciation through these carefully chosen rewards.

Timetable

I’m looking to raise these funds in the next 90 days and hope to start filming in the Philippines by the second week of January, 2017.  By the end of this year I am looking to save more money from construction work and augment the funds that will be raised in this campaign.

Ø  Production Timetable

Week 1: Beach, hill and alleys scenes (weather-sensitive)

Week 2: Wreckage scene that will be filmed in a studio or an outdoor pool.

You will notice that I am keeping the production timetable very tight. However, I assure you that even with the minimum filming time my crew and I are going to produce a festival quality feature film.

 Synopsis

Production Crew:

In 2015, I travelled to the Philippines to organize my production crew, audition actors and scan film locations. I had a very productive trip!

I want you to meet the members of my production crew. I believe that together, we make a strong and talented team that will give justice to my award-winning screenplay.

Production Assistant: Actor James Lomahan is an actor known for his works on Metro Manila (2013), Gapos (2013) and The Hands that Rolls the Wheel (2015). Lomahan will assume the role of Production Assistant in this film.

Makeup Artist: Leo Velasco is the man behind Tawong Lipod Creative Studio which has worked with every major television network in the Philippines since its inception in 2014. Leo still proudly serves the indie film community despite his successes with mainstream TV. With a background in Studio Arts from the University of the Philippines, Leo started his career in 2007 as a special effects makeup artist where he applied his training and natural artistic abilities. TLCS offers a complete range of services from conceptualization to fabrication.

Makeup Artist: For Cari-Dawn Conejero Campbell filmmaking is not just a job but a multi-faceted art form. She mostly works in Production Design and as a Special Effects Makeup Artist. She made her first short film “Westgate” at the age of 15, and got her first taste of the Philippine film industry as a member of the Art Department of the film Boy Golden, where she was later promoted as the film’s Art Director.

The rest of the production crew will be organized when I go to Manila in 2017.

A few words about me

“Behind the lens, there is passion to mimic the complexity, richness and beauty of life.”

For me passion means pounding and chiseling construction projects during the day and creating movie magic at night.

My first short film, psychological-thriller Sofia’s Doll won the Award of Excellence during the 2013 Official Selection Canadian International Film Festival. My most recent work, Now and At the Hour won 4th Place for Short Screenplay Competition in the London Film Awards in London, UK in May, 2014. Another short documentary film, Street Wonders, made it to the Toronto Independent Film festival on September, 2013. In these works, I assumed multiple roles as writer, producer and director using my multi-faceted skills in filmmaking.

My latest feature documentary film, The Surge, recently premiered online and earned a spot on IMDB as one of the most popular documentaries with country of origin in the Philippines.

I have also worked in collaboration with other independent filmmakers as assistant director, stills photographer and grip and gaffer in the 2012 films “I Want You to Stay Here,” You’re beautiful,” and “The Ring.”

In my spare time, I volunteer for non-profit organizations that share my principles on protecting the environment and on uplifting humanity. I support Gawad Kalinga Development Foundation – Philippines and Canada, the Canadian Red Cross, Sick Kids Foundation and World Vision.

I am an alumna of George Brown College in Toronto. I am trilingual being well-versed in Filipino, English and Korean. My native dialect is Ifugao.
