Who is NSBE-UCF?

The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) is an international, nonprofit college organization that is managed by its student members. With over 500 chapters and 30,000 members, NSBE is one of the largest student-governed organizations based in the United States. NSBE’s mission is to ultimately increase the number of culturally responsible black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community.

Here at The University of Central Florida (UCF), we are dedicated to the personal, professional, and academic development of our members. We accomplish this by hosting technical, academic, and community events, inviting companies to interact with our members, and providing opportunities for our members to attend conferences where they can network and learn new things. 

What have we accomplished?

Having an ambitious membership of over 70 students who all want to be leaders in the engineering industry has allowed us to excel in multiple ways. In the Fall of 2018, we attended a conference in Alabama where we were able to bring 30 collegiate students and 5 students from our NSBE Jr. (students K-12) Chapter. They competed in four competitions and placed 1st for 2 competitions and 3rd place for another competition. During this trip we also received multiple internship offers.

We have also been able to bring quality events to our members including a Java coding workshop, a calculus competition, a glider building competition, and many more events.


How can you help NSBE-UCF?

At NSBE-UCF we want to make sure that we are providing our members with the best opportunity to grow as an engineer. Every semester we attend different conferences where our members get the chance to speak with hundreds of employers and attend workshops that will help them develop their skill set. We need funding assistance for travel & lodging expenses when attending these conferences and have therefore set a goal of raising $3,000.
