We will accomplish sustainable development through the reclamation of existing homes with large carbon footprints. Then using the surrounding environment as guidance, take a home which sits detached from nature and link it back in. Each home that we work on will have aspects tailored to specific geographic region it is located.

We live on an incredible planet and we have a shared responsibility to keep our world as healthy as possible. New buildings account for 39% of the total CO2 emissions in the United States, this is more than the transportation or industrial sectors! It is because of this fact we believe that the conversion of already existing construction into more efficient, ecologically compatible buildings is one of the most cost effective and carbon saving ways to better our planet.

It has been shown that a new building which is 30% more efficient than the average existing building, can take anywhere from 10 to 80 years to overcome the negative climate change impacts resulting from the construction. This is because new construction can cost upwards of 80 metric tons or 176,320 lbs. of CO2 to build. Converting an older home can cost only 8 metric tons or 17,632 lbs of CO2. This is a HUGE difference, not to mention conversion construction can cost less in price and time, both of which are important to sustainable development.

So, not only will we be massively reducing our homes global impact, but our homes will also connect people back to the natural environment through altruistic design. We believe that how our homes feel and reflect our local ecosystem is paramount, so every sustainable renovation will consider the local ecology and seek to incorporate it. We want the exterior of our reclaimed homes to draw you in, while the inside draws you out!

Using as many local and reclaimed materials as we can, we will reduce the amount of building materials used, time, cost, and overall CO2 construction footprint. By incorporating the latest technologies will make our homes smarter, less resource intensive and efficient, all the while still being comfortable and functional. Thoughtful and altruistic sustainable design will be used to combat the environmental issues that are apparent within each home’s unique habitat. For example, areas that can suffer from frequent drought or where water resources are strained will have renovations heavily focused on water efficiency. Things such as drought tolerant landscaping, Watersense appliances, and water saving fixtures just to name a few. In contrast, areas that receive periods of high rain fall and runoff concepts such as “Green” rooftop design, permeable patios and walkways, rain gardens, and other water diversion landscaping will be used to combat these unique local dilemmas. Combined with across the board energy efficiency and environmental modernization that will be considered standard in all of our re-developments.
