Sandra's Dog Rescue
Donation protected
Hi, My name is Sandra Hennessy. I live in Waterford, in southern Ireland.
Over the last 20 years, I have been rescuing and looking after many dogs that have come my way.
It all started when my first dog Max went missing from my home in Wicklow. During my search for Max, I came accross many other abandoned dogs who badly needed a home.
My dog family has grown over the years and currently I have 39 dogs in my care.
Three years ago I was fortunate enough to find a perfect country home where I was able to convert outhouses into kennels for the dogs. It is a perfect home for me and allows me to excercise the dogs and care for them properly.
Up until now I have been funding the upkeep of the dogs entirely by myself. I work producing knitwear which I sell in markets around the country most weekends. Over the last year this has been quite a struggle. I have fallen behind in rent and have been told by my landlord that I will be served an eviction notice by the end of February 2016 if I cannot catch up with the rent. This will mean that i will have to re-home all the dogs. Some of them are quite elderly and so it is more likely that they will have to be put down. This is a heart breaking prospect and one that I cannot bear. I am asking for donations as soon as possible so that we can stay in this lovely place and so the dogs can live out the rest of their lives in comfort.
