Obehi's Journalism Journey

Hello all,
My name is Obehi Imarenezor and I am a rising Senior studying Convergence Television Reporting at the University of Missouri’s School of Journalism.
I am incredibly excited to announce, after much consideration, I am studying abroad this upcoming Fall semester in China, during which I will have the opportunity to cover the China Open, a premier international tennis event.
While thus far I have been focusing on Entertainment News, I have always dreamed of the possibility of anchoring abroad. With this rigorous program, I found my opportunity. China, being a prominent Eastern culture, differs substantially from the US. Pursuing this opportunity will allow me to hone in on a variety of multimedia skills, as a budding journalist. This program will prepare me to work across cultures, especially in the context of journalism. Regardless of my emphasis area, covering the China Open would be a great privilege and advantage for the start of my career, while strengthening my skills toward my dream job as an On Air personality.
However, over the years it began to seem unrealistic due to its high costs. The moment that this opportunity was presented, I decided that I would do everything in my power to make my dream of reporting internationally a reality. I am currently balancing two jobs, while maintaining an internship to save as much as I can, however with the summer coming to an end, I noticed that I have been able to save thus far is not sufficient to cover the cost of this trip.
The goal amount for this account is about half of what I owe the university for this program which will cover my study abroad fee, roundtrip airfare, transportation, academic and cultural activities, and so on.
I would be incredibly grateful for any and all donations, no matter how small, that would lower the amount of additional student loans and debt I will need for this trip. I would like to thank everyone for their support thus far, and a special thanks for any support you choose to give. The trip will be from September 23rd through October 8th, so I would like raise the money by September 4th, 2017. If there’s any need for flexibility please reach out by this date as well. Once again, thank you in advance in making my dream of studying abroad an attainable one!
Warmest Regards,
Obehi Imarenezor
