New Interactive Outdoor Exhibit
Donation protected
By constructing a living village we will create a fun, educational, and interactive environment with a longhouse, fishing weir, dance circle and gardens. People of all ages will learn, enjoy, and experience our past with Natives that still use the teachings of their ancestors today. From flint knapping to weaving, annual Village Days will have something for everyone.
To do this, we need YOUR help. With a grant from the Outer Banks Community Foundation we are building a longhouse. However, the longhouse, is only one part and must be furnished to truly bring the past to life. This includes traditional pottery, baskets, mats, fishing and gardening tools...and that’s just the beginning!
With a minimum of $1000 we can purchase materials for our volunteer Native artisans to create the furnishings that will not only add life to the exhibit but also withstand the harshness of island weather.
