My name is Odera Ifeoma “Ify” Ekwunife, and I am excited for the opportunity to contest to be your next Miss Igbo USA! Miss Igbo USA is a scholastic, cultural, community service-based beauty pageant dedicated to empowering our women, celebrating culture, and preserving the Igbo heritage. As a proud Nigerian, Ada of the soil, and ambassador for the beautiful Igbo culture, this is truly a dream come true.

What is My Vision?
As a Doctor of Pharmacy and Master of Public Health candidate, I have a passion for serving the underserved and providing practical healthcare in these communities. My platform is to raise awareness about the issue of youth unemployment in the healthcare industry of Nigeria, driven by the Power of Youth Initiative. Unemployment is a major socio-economic problem in Nigeria. In 2012, there were an alarming 11.1 million unemployed youth ages 18 to 35 (NISER, 2013). Fortunately, through sustainable infrastructure development, skill acquisition, education and community engagement, we can address this issue. An advocate for social progress, I strive to challenge Nigeria’s brain-drain into becoming brain-gain and instill ideals of leadership, altruism, and community service in our nation’s youth. WE are the future of Nigeria, and I am committed to empowering, educating, and enriching the youth workforce of our nation.
As your next Miss Igbo USA, I aim to be a role model for our teens, young women and adults and inspire them to fulfill their optimum potential.
