OFFICIAL HURRICANE IRMA RELIEF FUND OF THE GOVERNMENT OF ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA
On September 6, Hurricane Irma made first landfall on Barbuda, a small island with approximately 1,800 inhabitants. Irma decimated Barbuda - damaged or destroyed 95% of the homes, along with most of its infrastructure, including communications, electricity, and water. Barbudans were evacuated to its sister island of Antigua because Barbuda is totally uninhabitable. It will be months before power and water will be restored and will take years to rebuild.
Unlike many other islands severely affected by Irma, Barbuda is not a dependent of a first world nation. Along with the support of its sister island Antigua, Barbudans are in urgent need of the generous support of other nations and individuals to survive this catastrophic event and rebuild their lives.
This fund has been established and will be managed by the Consulate General of Antigua and Barbuda, located in Miami, Florida. All of the funds raised will go directly towards providing relief to the people of Barbuda, including basic necessities such as food, water, medicine, beds, hygienic products, baby formula, clothing, and building materials.
Please help our people in this time of need. Your donations are graciously appreciated.
