Shep’s Place: Old Dogs, New Digs!
Tax deductible
Shep's Place Senior Dog Sanctuary is located at 17012 E. Truman Rd., in Independence, MO. We are currently renovating a house to serve as a home for abandoned older dogs from the KC area. We are requesting funds to help pay for the renovations, which cost $130,000. We are a 501(c)(3) tax exempt public charity, run entirely by volunteers. All funds raised will go toward either the renovations, or toward care of the animals.
OUR STORY
Meet our namesake, Shep. He is a quiet senior beagle who, after years of living with a family, found himself abandoned in a shelter. He was well taken care of, but surrounded by strangers, and confined to a kennel 23 hours a day. Visitors passed Shep by, looking instead for young dogs and puppies. Week after week, month after month, senior dogs like Shep get left behind in shelters, unwanted and unloved, even though they still have plenty of life and love to share. Fortunately for Shep, he eventually found a family. His story and gentle nature inspired them to start a place to help other senior dogs like him.
SHEP'S PLACE SENIOR DOG SANCTUARY
Shep's Place will be a sanctuary for senior dogs who have lost their family, and been unable to find a new one. For those deserving pups, we will become their family, and Shep's Place their home. Our dogs will be free to roam the house or the play yards, sleep, or cuddle up with one of our volunteers. We will gladly find them new families, but they are free to stay as long as they need, even forever.
CREATING A HOME
Renovations are underway, and we need the support of dog lovers throughout Kansas City and beyond to help pay for them. The house needs extensive plumbing and electrical upgrades. The garage is being converted into a kennel room. Play yards are being built outside, and a new driveway installed. For updates on the renovation, visit our blog.

PLEASE HELP!
If you believe old dogs deserve the chance to live out their lives freely, in a loving, homelike environment, then please donate, and help make Shep's Place a reality. Thanks!!
