The Cat in the Hat Gives Back

Donation protected
You will find that Y0$#! (Yoshi), “The Cat In Da Hat”, rapper is not just an artist who spews lyrics.  He is an animated impressionist who knows how to excite and entertain a crowd! Yoshi, a rising star, has a unique talent for mixing elements of EDM, metal, trap, R&B, jazz, rock, hip-hop and of course, a few animated sounds and impressions to deliver an interesting flow.  Although he grew up as a singer, he quickly learned he could delight a crowd by beat boxing and with his creative freestyles.  Yoshi’s music incorporates his unique voice impersonations, vocal sound effects, beat boxing, singing and rapping to give him a very distinctive sound.  Everything from the sound effects and what you would think is a sample, Yoshi generates himself.  His overall goal is to create a new sound through his original songs that balance a blend of different styles of music and unusual sounds. Yoshi has performed recently at A3C 2016 and was an active member in the Guinness World Record for the “Longest Freestyle Cypher” #24hourcypher.

Yoshi caught everybody off guard with his new song, "Only In My Mind".   This addicting record is featured on #GoofiJuice3 Prod by @BassNPurp and is not the usual trap joint.  You will see in the music video for “Only In My Mind”, actual places that Yoshi once lived.  Yoshi knows the struggle of poverty all to well.  He was born and raised in Cincinnati, OH as Christopher Jackson and moved to Atlanta at the age of 17. Yoshi was excited to be in a new city and had many hopes for his future.  However, things did not go as expected and his life took a turn for the worse.  Yoshi was evicted at the age of 19 and he took to the streets.   Yoshi was homeless for two years, never finding a stable place to call home.  At the age of 22 he was incarcerated.  It was during this difficult time where he learned music was his calling.

Yoshi knows what it's like to not have anyone help you when you find yourself truly in need.  Yoshi found solace in his music and support from people in his community and local non-profits.  In this season of his life, Yoshi takes joy in finding ways to give back to the community that helped him survive.  He has a heart to help other youth that have similar struggles and hopes to encourage them to find their own path.  Contributions to this campaign will go directly toward local non-profits that help homeless youth and youth involved in the legal system to have a better quality of life and get a second chance.
