Coffee People for Fuego Relief
Donation protected
We are farmers and importers of Guatemalan Coffee wanting to support Guatemala during this difficult time
We want to thank you for your concerns and support as Guatemala has gone through a terrible tragedy. We are fortunate that all of our Producer partners and our entire team is safe. However, at current count there are 99 people killed, 200 missing, 12,000+ evacuated, and 1.7 million directly affected in the surrounding area of the volcano.
Volcan de Fuego remains active and presents a current and ongoing destructive force.
We know that the need in Guatemala is immediate but also recognize support over the long-term will be necessary for those impacted.
Many of you have asked how you can help. After much due diligence, Onyx Coffee has chosen to partner with the Guatemalan chapter of Habitat for Humanity, who is providing both short and long-term support strategies. We are in dialogue with the local office and they will be giving us updates on how our donations are utilized.
Habitat for Humanity Guatemala has determined that we will participate in relief efforts by carrying out the following actions:
•Providing emergency response kits (cost $75):
-2 shovels
-10 meters of rope
-1 hoe
-10 masks
-2 pairs of safety glasses
-1 wheelbarrow
•Activation of a protocol of alert and response with the intention to establish communication and develop a monitoring and management of risk.
•Coordination with different organizations and institutions across Guatemala that work in the area of disaster response.
•Donation drives set up at local affiliate offices and national office.

***Our goal is to raise $25,000 for Habitat for Humanity in the next ten days through this GoFundMe Campaign. And we are going to kick it off by donating the first $1000. On June 18th 2018, we will wire 100% of donations to Habitat for Humanity of Guatemala and we will post the transaction on this page.***
We are always amazed by the solidarity and strength of our coffee community.
Thank you for your support,
Onyx Coffee
