Orcas Stands with Standing Rock
Donation protected
This is a crucial time for the No DAPL movement as the pipeline will likely reach the Missouri River within the first week of November. Support is needed from home and at the frontlines - and Orcas Islanders are answering the call to action. Orcas Stands with Standing Rock is committed to supporting the efforts in North Dakota.
We have multiple groups travelling from Orcas Island to Standing Rock over the next few weeks to bring supplies and help at the front lines. Our first vehicle left Orcas Island on October 29th and is sending us regular updates regarding ongoing needs for supplies as well as status updates from actions at the camp. The caravan requires financial support for gas, camp stove fuel, food, and other basic supplies needed to be self sufficient at the camp, as well as potential emergencies.
Supporters in the Orcas Island community have held regular organizing meetings and created a fund as a way for the broader community on Orcas Island to participate.
Learner Limbach has been given the responsibility of managing the fund with all donations and expenditures being completely transparent and decisions being made as a group as to the funds’ best use at a given time.
Right now the call from Standing Rock is for more people to get to the front lines as soon as possible.
Uniting our efforts will only make us stronger and more effective. Thank you for contributing!
If you have questions or ideas about how we can organize more effectively together on Orcas Island, have supplies to donate, or if you are interested in driving to Standing Rock or finding a ride please e-mail [email redacted] or visit Orcas Stands with Standing Rock on Facebook
