My name is Brenda Rand, and I'm a master goldfish keeper. My goal is to take my product line of natural remedies for freshwater fish, and get them on the shelves in stores across the US
It may sound like a small adventure to you, but the goldfish industry is a big one. People don't understand their needs, nor do they know how to feed and care for them. Soon after purchasing a goldfish, it's health declines due to ignorance. The goldfish owner races to the pet shop to find only chemicals to add to the water. These products more often than not push the fish over the edge
Years ago, I started keeping goldfish, and lost one after another. It was heartbreaking, but I didn't give up
I researched goldfish online, and followed the advice offered by one website after another, but nothing worked. One day I had an idea to research their ancestry and the environment they live in, recreating the same conditions in my tank; the cold and fast moving rivers of China
I put pond pumps in my tank to remove the gases created from waste and oxygenate the water. I raised the pH levels by raising the carbonate mineral value of my tap water
I fed small meals throughout the day, and fed a variety, just as though they were in the wild. In a short time, my fish were thriving, and that's when I became obsessed with goldfish and the environment they live in
I joined a few goldfish websites, and became fasincated with their health problems. I recommended improving the water, but the moderators soon banned me from the sites. They were recommending dangerous chemicals sold at pet shops
Before long I created my own website
I started writing on caring for goldfish. What started out as a one page website now has hundreds of pages containing artilces about every goldfish issue you could imagine
In time I had written a book on diagnosing and treating various conditions and diseases that most commonly plague goldfish
Throughout the years, I came to realize how important a healthy ecosystem is, and that other healthy microorganisms living in the envirnment are delicate, and cannot tolerate chemicals. This makes it difficult to treat a fish that has parasites, or is suffering from a bad bcteria infection
This is when I first began developing natural remedies that not only kill bad bugs, but enhance the health of the fish while improving the overall quality of the water
Healthy fish live in healthy water
I've spent years developing natural tonics and remedies, and instructing their use, but a few months ago, I began bottling these same remedies. I created another website called the Organic Goldfish, where I preach the value of an organic environment, and also sell my remedies
My product line grossed just over $400 in it's first month of sales
Unfortunately, I haven't had the money to invest, market and sell my remedies or the many books I've written about the care, diagnosis and treatment of goldfish and other freshwater fish
My first website, which was created over eight years ago was recently upgraded; just about the time the remedies went up for sale. This established site, goldfish-emergency, is my leading source for sales, taking people to organic goldfish, a new site that isn't well ranked yet
After upgrading goldfish emergency, it dropped in Google ranks during the transition, but is making a slow climb back up again. In time, sales will pick up. I've discovered there's a demand for my remedies
To date, there are no other natural remedies on the market for goldfish. I am the first. My goal is to get my remedies on shelves all across the country, along with the many goldfish books I've written
There is a place for my product line on the market and I need help finding it
I need a real shop to produce my remedies. I need financial help to package, promote and distribute my products. I would also like to get my goldfish books out there as well
I'm great at keeping goldfish, at giving instruction on their care and making remedies to improve their health, but I will need to hire someone to help market and distribute my product line
