Oromia Emergency Humanitarian Fund
This is an emergency fund raising campaign to help over 50,000 Oromos evicted from Ethiopian Somali Regional State and more than 500,000 people displaced from their homes in Oromia Regional State bordering the Somali region due to the unprovoked crossborder war opened by the highly armed Somali Special Police against unarmed farmers and pastoralists. Hundreds have been killed over the last three months and many more have been wounded. The victims are people of all ages including women, children and the erderly.
Co-sponsors of this campaign are all Oromos living in the United States and started this campaign to support their people back in Oromia, Ethiopia. The fund raised will be be withdrawn by Solomon Ungashe and wired to a bank account at Cooperative Bank of Oromia that has been established by the state of Oromia to collect support for the victims. A committee of elders and Oromo Abbaa Gadaas (community leaders) will use the fund to provide food, shelter and medical care for the people affected by this man made humanitarian crisis.
