WHAT THIS IS ABOUT - THE `WHY'
I'm Lena Wilson-Claybon and I am the campaign organizer for a group of television and film writers, producers, and filmmakers who have come together and decided to make a change because we are fed up with `waiting' on Hollywood to step up in terms of the diversity game.. After the whole #oscarsowhite controversy earlier this year, we thought things would improve to include more people of color and other under-represented groups during the hiring process. But, so far, outside of a few more acting roles on television possibly given to minorities, nothing much has changed. Behind the scenes, as far as writers, directors, producers and crew members go, things are as dismal as ever; and, funding for our projects are even more dismal.
Here's some quick stats according to a recent study:
3.4 % of films are directed by women
12.7% of films are directed by (all) minorities
9.6% of broadcast programs are directed by people of color
13% of television writers are minorities
7% of employed film writers are non-white
THE `ASK'
That is why we decided to start this fund, to help people of color and other under-represented groups tell their stories and be able to make a sustainable living in this business for themselves and their families as others do. That is also why the `ask' is so big. We know $1,000,000 is a loftly goal but we also know it's possible.

At this level, you're a Player! This level includes all the perks from the other levels + an Executive Producer credit on our first production. You will also be invited to the set and get to `hang out’ with the production for a day!
ABOUT THE ORGANIZER:
Lena W. Claybon, Writer/Producer, is a 20-year career veteran in the film and television industry. She has written and produced more than 100 hours of television working with companies such as Twentieth Television, Saban Entertainment, BET, Paramount Television, Blue Rider Pictures, Brainbox Entertainment, Litton Entertainment and Bischoff-Hervey Entertainment. Her series work has included CLAUDE’S CRIB ( USA Network), MOESHA (former UPN), TEXAS JUSTICE (FOX), andTHE REAL DEAL (TLC). In addition to this, she wrote, directed, and co-produced a comedic film, `The Myth’, which was chosen for Showtime’s Black Filmmaker’s Showcase and had repeat airings on the network. She has also written and developed several original screenplays and television shows that have been sold or optioned and co-wrote two musical stageplays, CHEATERS starring Brian McKnight, and CASINO starring Kelly Price.
