Did you know that over 15,000 people or 16.3% of residents live in poverty in Otsego County?
In 2018, Otsego County's unemployment rate was 14.5%. The median income in Otsego County was $31,516 with a median income of $27,272 for those with a high school diploma.
On average, a load of laundry including soap and dryer sheets costs about $5.50 - $6.00 in Otsego County. The average US home washes 6.5-7 loads of laundry a week. For someone who relies on the local laundromat, that is $36-$42 a week or $144- $168 a month in laundry costs. This is money that could be used to feed a family, pay a bill, or fill a tank of gas to get to and from work.
Progressive Primary Care Solutions and Clinton Plaza Laundry are teaming up to open the first Otsego County Laundry Love Program to provide free laundry services, laundry soap and dryer sheets to members of Otsego County, beginning in February 2019. www.laundrylove.org
We believe that clean clothes and laundry are among the most
important basic human needs for each individual. With clean clothes an individual is better equipped to gain employment, maintain employment, live a healthier life, and improve self-esteem and mental health.
Please help us grow our Laundry Love program in Otsego County by donating today! Any amount will help and we hope you will share the opportunity to donate to our program with your friends and family near and far.
As our funds grow, so will the number of locations, hours and days of the services.
Our first site, Clinton Plaza Laundry is set to begin in February of 2019.
