Our precious Maverick & The Martzen Family

In shock, disbelief, and with broken hearts, we are trying to come to terms with the loss of our precious Maverick whose life was taken from us by a drunk driver. This careless and irresponsible man chose to get behind the wheel of a car while intoxicated and has now destroyed an entire family and taken the life of a loving, smart and beautifully innocent little boy. Not only did this person choose to drive while intoxicated, he was driving on a suspended license from a previous DUI that he had received in 2016.
While Maverick, along with his loving parents Megan and Scott were heading home from a family birthday celebration late Saturday evening, they were struck on the passenger side of their vehicle. The impact knocked their car into a tree and trapped the family inside. Witnesses saw the man driving at about 100 miles per hour when he ran a stop sign and T-boned their car. Witnesses pulled the family out of their car and paramedics rushed Maverick to Selma Hospital and then Valley Children's Hospital, but they couldn't save his life. Scott and Megan both suffered multiple broken bones and are both still hospitalized.
Maverick was Scott and Megan's only child and the light of their world. He loved playing baseball and was recently drafted as a first round draft pick to the majors in Little League. He also loved watching sports. His favorite teams were the San Francisco Giants, Golden State Warriors and the San Francisco 49ers.
As we mourn, cry out to God and try to understand the events that have taken place, we wish to support Maverick's entire family, especially Megan & Scott. Many people have asked about ways to help. We are humbly asking for any amount you can donate to help with their overwhelming expenses. We as their family, friends and community need to help them navigate through this extremely challenging time without their beautiful son.
Please make any contribution you can. We also ask that you please share this page with other friends and family.
Thank you for your prayers and support.
