Field Trip to See "Hidden "Figures"

I'm an educator at a primarily African American middle school located in the heart of Detroit, Michigan. These children are our future. They are the future scientists, teachers, doctors and politicians in our communities. They DESERVE to see positivity in regards to people of color. I have set up a GoFundMe account as a result of the response of my friends to a status I posted about wanting to take my students to see "Hidden Figures", a ground breaking movie that chronicles the lives and accomplishments of three black female STEM scientists. Many people offered to sponsor students on a field trip and Go Fund me was the most efficient medium to serve this purpose. All in all, I NEED MY STUDENTS TO SEE THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF PEOPLE WHO LOOK LIKE THEM IN THE FIELDS OF SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING AND MATH. This film is an amazing opportunity for me to achieve this goal. All monies donated will go toward tickets and transportation to the theatre for 50 female students. Matinee tickets are around $6.00 per student. My goal is to take the students to the theater sometime in February. Thank you guys for all of your kind words and encouragement. Let's invest in our future! Let's show them that #BlackGirlsRock!!!
