Jason Miller (Buddy) is in intensive care on life support after being diagnosed with a bacterial infection from both streptococcus and aerococcus that has caused toxic shock syndrome and severe septic shock. This seems to have started as a sore throat that got out of hand. He was admitted on Wednesday 31st October and within the hour he was fighting for his life.
He was placed in an induced coma that night as family rushed to his bedside and were told to prepare for the worst. Doctors frantically worked to save him as his internal organs began to shut down. Family were told that his heart would give out and a priest was called to read him his last rites as the family tearfully said their goodbyes.
His beautiful 7 year old daughter was carried in to say goodbye to daddy - but he wasnt ready to leave her just yet.
Buddy fought and fought. His determination to stay alive rocked the doctors and nurses who couldn't believe he was still hanging on.
And then 5 days later, he woke up.
It is a true miracle that he survived. His road to recovery will be long and hard. He will need physiotherapy, a wheelchair, prosthetics, etc. He needs your help to face the many agonising months and years ahead.
Please, if you can spare a few dollars to help make his journey easier, please give. All money will go directly to support his ongoing needs.
If you can't give, please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. He needs that too.
On behalf of Buddy and his family, we thank you.
