California Roots Music and Arts Festival (2013)

Jimmy Ovadia's art leads us on a transformative psychedelic odyssey full of unique and creative dreamlike portholes.  Even though the battles and struggles life throws his way he is still able to persevere and propagate unprecedented work.  Jimmy's quest is toward an abstract surrealistic art that visually unites the body, mind, soul and spirit. It elucidates and enlightens the individual and the world around them.

On May 4th, 2018, Jimmy Ovadia and his Tour Manager were on a tour run from San Diego, CA to Morrison, CO to Red Rocks Amphitheater to paint live at the Twiddle, Stick Figure and The Hip Abduction show.

Red Rocks Amphitheater - 5/4/2018

Stick Figure - 5/4/2018 (Live Art)

The Story
On 4/3/18 Jimmy and myself left San Diego headed to Red Rocks in Morrison, CO to paint live at the Stick Figure and Twiddle concert.  After encountering a radiator hose leak 95 miles out, we  had to utilize a tow truck service based on location and the need to get to the venue in time for a late load in.  Upon arrival, the flatbed truck tie down had a malfunction and the van rolled off the back of the truck and down a short hill into a wall.    Luckily no one was hurt, though the van received more damage than the claim would cover and it still needed to be fixed to be driveble back to CA.  This left Jimmy without a fully funcitoning van with the summer tour season coming up and committments in place.

After waiting a day for the tow truck compay to figure things out on their end, the van radiator leaks were worked on and made drivable by our awesome friends from Wicked Cars USA in Lakewood, CO.   Jimmy and myself made our way another 8 hours outside of Denver towards San Diego when we had a full rear tire blow.   After 3 hours and it now 2:00am, AAA showed up and secured our van with our spare.   We drove 2 miles to the next rest stop and in the morning after driving 1 mile we heard a noise and pulled over immediately.   We quicly noticed that our back left wheel almost fell off the van while going 80mph and within minutes we avoided a major accident by acting on our instinct to pull over.

Somewhere in the middle of Utah

We were able to make it the 60 miles to the next town by keeping the stripped lug nuts on the wheel any way that we could.  There was no cell service so we could not call for help.  We had to make it to the next town before the days end.

We  replaced the lug nut pins and lug nuts to make it back to San Diego safely.

This campaign is to help raise funds Jimmy to purchase another used van that he can customize like his last one.  He is looking for any help and the greatest gift of all would be to share this campaign on facebook and twitter.  Jimmy knows how hard it is financially these days, so the greatest gift of all would be to share his story.

Jimmy would like to express that he really appreciates all the love and support throughout this situation and looks to get back on the road in his next van later this month for the California Roots Music & Arts Festival.

Here's a photo of Jimmy staying in his creative element while waiting for the van to be repaired in Colorado.  This was created for the gracious hosts that brought Jimmy and myself into their home for two days.

Everytime Jimmy creates a painting at a show, someone leaves with a creative masterpiece and an awesome memory for a lifetime.  Let's help Jimmy stay on the road doing what he is destined to do, change peoples perspecitves and lives through his art.
