Lord Mayor's Climate Change Fund

Are you concerned about climate change? Donate to the Lord Mayor's Climate Change Fund and support local projects tackling climate change.

Oxford City Council has declared a climate emergency. As Lord Mayor I am focused on how the city can play its part in the face of the global threat of climate change.

The climate crisis is an emergency that requires actions at all levels of government; local, regional and national. What the climate scientists tell us is that we need is to act quickly to reduce our carbon emissions.

I invite you to donate to the Lord Mayor’s Climate Change Fund, and help raise funds to support local community energy projects.

Supporting carbon cutting projects now
The funds raised will be used to help get local community-energy projects up and running, directly reducing local impact on global warming.

Providing long term financial support for our community in the future
What’s more, these projects will also create an income back to the Lord Mayor’s Charity, which can be used to provide on-going financial to support the City Council’s community grants programme, so the benefit of your gift is felt year after year.

The emergency
Oxford City Council has declared a climate emergency. The days of fossil fuels are numbered and the shift to renewable energy generation is gaining pace. You can help support more renewable community energy projects in Oxford and donate to the Lord Mayor’s Climate Change Fund. Help tackle this global issue locally.

How does it work?
The Fund will collect donations from individuals and organisations keen to take action on climate change. The money raised will then be invested by The Lord Mayor’s Charity Trust in the Low Carbon Hub’s Community Energy Fund, which you can read more about here: www.lowcarbonhub.org/invest

These funds will be used to support local community energy projects, such as installing more solar PV arrays on school roofs.

Each year, the Lord Mayor’s charity will receive on their investment interest. Which the charity can use to support its on-going grants programme.

About the Low Carbon Hub
The Low Carbon Hub is a Oxford-based social enterprise that’s out to prove its possible to meet our energy needs in a way that’s good for people and good for the planet.

It grew out of a collaboration between Oxford City Council and low carbon groups from across Oxford, working together to deliver local action to tackle the global issue of climate change.

They develop and deliver community-owned renewable projects and energy efficiency activity across Oxfordshire, thanks to the support of over 1,000 investor Members and partnerships with schools and organisations across the County.
