Paws For Hope- Training Sammy
Donation protected
Sammy is a very special girl, that was rescued be an amazing family. Sammy was adopted through the organization, Street Dog Hero . She spent the first part of her life tied to a tree in Mexico. Angie and her husband Terry adopted Sammy into their family in February, with the intention to train her as Angie’s service dog. Through the abuse of Sammy’s first part of life, she’s consequently very sensitive to sounds. This has turned into an easy alert for Angie, who is so sensitive to sounds that even a car bass driving by will cause Angie to lose her sense of balance and fall. Angie has trouble deciphering where the ground is, and has difficulty in busy places where there is a lot of movement. She has to look at her lap or she’ll get sick. Sammy is a natural service dog, she’s quickly becoming accustomed to her new life, and has never had an accident in the house. She’s such a good girl!
Angie is 38, and lives in a quiet neighborhood in Redmond. She loves the outdoors! Her favorite activity was hiking and backpacking. She’s involved in her church as much as she’s able, and had a business helping people with their nutrition and health. She loved seeing the transformation of energy people under her care would go through, and how they’d come out of their shell. Angie and Terry run The Bumblebee Farmhouse , they make beautiful hand painted signs! She has specialty dog signs for sale in support of her fundraiser! Be sure to contact The Bumblebee Farmhouse to make a purchase!
Angie has had multiple closed head injuries, a balance disorder, has daily chronic migraines and was recently diagnosed with Lyme Disease. Sammy was adopted after her wonderful service dog, Lilly, passed away of old age in January. Angie would like to fully train Sammy to assist her with her daily needs. With more training Sammy will help Angie with her balance, alert her when she needs to sit, pick up items for her, open doors, alert Terry when Angie needs help, and get the phone for her to call 911. Angie looks forward to getting out more after Sammy is trained. She hopes to be able to get back into hiking with Sammy’s help, and to go camping this summer. With Sammy’s help, Angie will have the confidence of walking on her own again. Her doctor and therapist agree, a fully trained service dog is ideal for Angie’s needs.
Pals with Paws has partnered with Angie in an attempt to fund-raise so that Sammy can improve her service task skill sets and get other things she needs to make her difficult job easier and Angie’s difficult life more enjoyable. Sammy needs special training and equipment. Any help you can provide will enable Pals with Paws to provide supplies, and training for the next 12 months! Your contributions will have lasting effects and improve both Sammy and Angie’s quality of life dramatically. Thanks to you, Sammy will have all the tools she needs to succeed! Let’s work together to give Sammy and Angie some Paws for Hope!
Pals with Paws mission is to help those that cannot afford to pay for training of service and therapy dogs, especially for veterans, children/persons with disabilities, and low-income families/individuals. Not only do we want to ensure that they receive these services, we want to make sure they get everything in a timely manner. There are a lot of grants out there but getting tied up in government funds causes severe delays, red tape, and other problematic situations that can prevent someone in need from getting help when they need it. Pals with Paws provides a wide variety of training, from basic obedience to specific targeted tasks that the dogs can perform for specific medical purposes. We don't think it's fair to make good people wait for services they need now, especially when a grant takes 2 – 5 years to process and that doesn’t include prep time, obtaining a dog, and filling out subsequent paperwork for additional grants in order to afford training. And that's even if the individual qualifies for said grant. It can be a stressful and uncertain process.
What you pay for:
Your generous donations will ensure that Sammy gets regularly scheduled training sessions and equipment to keep her at peak performance for Angie. All equipment and the impact from services provided, will last them for the entirety of their time together as a team.
