Peace for Geoff

On Friday, August 24, 2018, our brother Geoffrey Michael Corbis (Weglarz) 61, tragically took his own life. He was reported missing in New York City after he had contacted family with suicidal messages. Family was unable to get the NYPD to respond and look for him, even though he qualified as an endangered adult. The NYPD found him on Friday, August 31, 2018, one week from the time he was reported missing. He was parked on the street in the East Village, where he had been deceased in his car for a week.
The last two years became increasingly hard for Geoff, as he suffered from Executive Functioning Disorder (ESD), which is a degenerative disease of the brains ability to process information.( see link to learn more: https://manhattanpsychologygroup.com/executive-functioning-problems-adults) Geoff also was on the autism spectrum, diagnosed at an earlier age with Asperger’s, which escalates as one ages.
The increased inability to organize and function normally made it difficult to obtain and maintain gainful employment. Financially, he began to spiral, which caused him to become depressed. The more he suffered from financial decline, the more depressed he became. He sought medical and psychiatric help with his condition, but there is no cure.
Geoff was a brilliant man with mad computer and coding skills, including graduate work in cybersecurity at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT. Geoff was also an accomplished singer/actor, with numerous performances in Westport, CT., Florida, and North Carolina.
Geoff began to isolate and spiral into depression, which lead to his suicide. The family is seeking assistance to ensure Geoff has a dignified burial. Friends and family that have expressed a desire to help, a donation can provide meaningful assistance for his funeral. Thank you for considering donating for his final wishes in this life.
