Save People's Park
Donation protected
We are raising money to help in the campaign to save the historic People's Park from being built on by UC, who have publicly stated their intention to do so by the Summer of 2024.
Funds will be used towards the supplies or payments necessary for advertisements and events thrown around building the much needed mobilization of support for People's Park. Funds will also be used towards legal support for People's Park activists who may need it.
The primary benefactors of these efforts will be the Berkeley community who benefit from the much needed green space, and civic and cultural community which the Park brings; house-less persons residing in Berkeley, who will inevitably be displaced to less supportive conditions elsewhere; and finally the people of the world, as People's Park acts as a world historic landmark and testament to the political and cultural struggles of an entire era towards freedom from Racism, War and militarism, ecological sustainability, and the struggle for a free commons given for speech and expression without the threat of state repression.
Funds for these efforts are needed immediately. Supplies needed to save the Park have been provided by activists themselves up until this point, and as a consequence, supplies/funding has been scarce.
Any donation, whatever the size, would mean the world to us, and would greatly help us all in our efforts to help save this world-historic site. Any donation given we would all be extremely grateful for, as many of us have devoted a sizable portion of our lives and (unpaid)labor towards maintaining or defending this Park.
